Responsibilities:
  • Provides a full range of cardiothoracic surgical care to patients of Legacy Health. Such care is provided in an office, outpatient, or inpatient setting and includes the full and expected mix of patient problems and surgical approaches.
  • Provides “non-trauma” coverage on an “on-call” capacity for Emanuel, Good Samaritan and Tuality Hospitals.
  • Provides office follow up of cardiothoracic patients.
  • Provides consultation on cardiothoracic surgical issues.
  • Participates in Legacy Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement programs as appropriate for clinical practice.
  • Participates on relevant committees as requested. 
  • Participates in community outreach activities regarding Legacy’s cardiothoracic surgery services.
  • Completes medical records, coding and billing schedules and forms, and other needed paperwork in a timely fashion.
  • Works with other specialists (radiology, cardiology) to develop a comprehensive Legacy cardiovascular surgery program.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of four-year U.S. Medical School or equivalent.
  • Completion of general surgery residency.
  • Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
Licensure:
  • Medical License, DEA, BLS for the applicable state.
  • Membership on LPH Medical Staff.
  • Board Certified in Thoracic Surgery.
  • BLS for Providers certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • ACLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
