Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Thoracic Surgeon, you will join our collegial team in Seattle at the award winning Virginia Mason Medical Center. As part of our team, you will work alongside local and regional specialists, all dedicated to improving quality, enhancing patient experience, and advancing clinical standards for those we serve.


Every day you will provide compassionate and expert care, conducting thorough assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support the well-being of patients and their families.


To be successful in this role, you will be a skilled, board-certified, and compassionate Thoracic Surgeon, possessing excellent surgical skills. You will also demonstrate a deep commitment to patient-centered care and the capacity to thrive within a collegial and supportive environment.

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of new patients
  • Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with families and interdisciplinary teams
  • Provide ongoing management and follow-up care for patients
  • Offer guidance and support to patients and families regarding educational resources and community services
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure a coordinated approach to care
  • Stay current with research and best practices in Thoracic Surgery to provide evidence-based care
  • Participate in community outreach and education initiatives

We are offering a starting bonus, and relocation assistance. Retirement plans include both 401(k) and 457(b).


Job Requirements

Required

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Thoracic Surgery (American Board of Thoracic Surgery)
  • Ability to obtain a medical professional license in the State of Washington
  • Ability to obtain a DEA with full prescriptive authority needed for specific practice
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
