For over 100 years, CTECS has been the leading force in Career Technical Education (CTE) in the State of Connecticut. CTECS operates 17 diploma-granting technical high schools, one technical education center and two airframe mechanics and aircraft maintenance programs. The school system provides a direct employment pipeline for high school students and adult learners.

YOUR ROLE
Join our team as a Health Technology Instructor and play a vital role in preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals. This dynamic position offers the opportunity to deliver a comprehensive Health Technology curriculum that combines classroom-based instruction with hands-on clinical skills training. The successful candidate will create engaging lessons, utilize educational technology and online resources, assess student competency, and provide meaningful learning experiences that prepare students for careers in the healthcare field.
Health Technology Instructors are expected to teach all aspects of the program, demonstrating both strong instructional abilities and practical healthcare expertise. In addition to classroom teaching, instructors will guide students through hands-on skill development, requiring the physical ability to perform and demonstrate a variety of healthcare tasks. The role also includes obtaining and maintaining a Connecticut Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements to safely transport students as needed.
Beyond instruction, the Health Technology Instructor serves as an active member of the educational community by participating in district and school-based professional development, collaborating with colleagues across departments, and contributing to committees and initiatives that support student success. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated healthcare professional and educator to make a lasting impact by inspiring, mentoring, and preparing students for rewarding careers in the healthcare industry.
Health Technology students learn health care safety, nutrition, characteristics of health care teams, National Health Care Standards, categories of health care facilities, legal/ethical/moral concerns in health care, and effective communication including medical terminology. The program provides broad-based exposure to a variety of health careers. In grade 11 students are eligible to become certified nursing assistants.

As a condition of employment, the hired educator is required to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the proper endorsements to transport CTECS students.

Incumbents must possess at time of appointment a valid certificate issued by the Connecticut State Board of Education in accordance with the Certification Regulations Concerning State Educator Certificates, Permits and Authorizations, with a secondary school endorsement.
