POSITION SUMMARY

Makes patient appointments and ensures the efficient and effective operations of the appointment scheduling system for all locations.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Supports the Business Office Manager in the operation of the appointment desk, onboarding, hiring process, employee supervision and scheduling
  • Monitors performance/attendance and communicates with staff to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures across all supervised positions
  • Participates in employee relation matters which may result in corrective action or termination
  • Makes reschedules, and cancels appointments for patients through patient call, patient portal, and outside referral software program
  • Seeks guidance regarding scheduling outside the normal parameters
  • Provides answers to patient questions adhering to established criteria
  • Handles all schedule changes, schedule building and schedule blocking for all providers
  • Provides training for new appointment schedulers
  • Oversees all areas of Athena and makes adjustments as necessary
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Ability to work in a cooperative manner with others
  • Performs other duties as assigned

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required

Experience: Previous experience involving heavy telephone usage is required. Customer service experience is required. Previous experience in a physician's office is preferred. Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Computer Skills: Must be computer literate. Intermediate computer skills required. Must be able to type.
