Position Summary Responsible for all aspects of assigned patient accounts after charge entry to final resolutionEssential Functions Statement(s)Verifies and updates insurance information and demographicsRebills charges when insurance corrections are madeKeeps up with changes in billing and pre-cert guidelines (including LCD's)Reviews insurance eligibilityDetermines and reviews financial responsibilities and insurance coverage with patientsResolves patient balance related questionsReviews surgery costs and establishes payment plans for patient portionReports denial trends to coders and managersCompletes charge entryProcesses patient and payor refundsReviews insurance eligibility and rejections/errorsFollows-up on aging bucketsIdentifies accounts for referral to outside collection agencyEdits claim holdsKeeps up with changes in payor processes and reports them to coordinator for appropriate actionObtains all precertificationResponds to correspondence from payors and patientsRegular and predictable attendanceAbility to work in a cooperative manner with othersPerforms other duties as assignedSkills & Abilities Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)Experience: Previous healthcare billing experience is requiredComputer Skills: Must be computer literate. Basic computer skills required.
