Primary Purpose:
To provide supplemental academic support to students in reading and/or math under the supervision of certified teachers. This federally funded position is designed to help improve student achievement in Title I schools by supporting small group instruction, reinforcing targeted skills, and assisting with intervention strategies.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- 48 college credit hours, associate's degree, or passing score on the Paraprofessional Assessment of Academic Skills (required)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Basic understanding of instructional strategies for reading and math
- Ability to work effectively with small groups of students and follow teacher direction
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and a positive learning environment
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Support:
- Assist in providing targeted instruction in reading and/or math under the guidance of a certified teacher
- Work with small groups or individual students to reinforce skills previously taught
- Help prepare instructional materials and organize learning activities
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the classroom teacher
Classroom and School Support:
- Support intervention, enrichment, or academic support time (RTI/MTSS)
- Supervise and assist students during transitions, activities, or independent work
- Support a safe and orderly classroom environment conducive to learning
Data and Compliance:
- Keep simple records related to instructional interventions and student progress
- Participate in Title I training and professional development
- Follow all district and federal guidelines related to the use of Title I funds
Working Conditions:
- Classroom and small-group instructional environments
- May involve standing, walking, and supporting students for extended periods
- Requires working closely with students who need additional academic support
Note: This is a federally funded position through Title I. Continued employment is contingent upon availability of funds.
- Minimum Salary $14.83 hourly
- Salary is commensurate with experience
- Works 187 Day Calendar
- This position requires on-site, in-person work and does not offer remote work options.
