Primary Purpose:

Provide instructional support and coaching to teachers and administrators at Title I secondary campuses to improve mathematics achievement for students who are struggling to meet state academic standards. Support the implementation of evidence-based instructional practices, intervention strategies, data-driven decision-making, and targeted professional learning designed to increase student success and close achievement gaps.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Valid teacher certification
  • ESL certification

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment
  • Working knowledge of TEKS and state assessments
  • Working knowledge of instructional technology and application
  • Demonstrated strength in instruction, curriculum, and lesson design/delivery
  • Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
  • Strong communication and training/presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively with principals, teachers, and students
  • Extensive knowledge of mathematics instruction and workshop methods.
  • Ability to lead Professional Learning Communities
  • Ability to coach teachers in classroom settings including observations with formative feedback
  • Ability to utilize formal and informal data to inform instruction
  • Ability to support others in the implementation of the district curriculum, effective teaching strategies, and other best practices in mathematics

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years teaching experience, preferred
  • Successful implementation of the district's curriculum, facilitating the planning and application of emerging technologies in the classroom preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Collaborate with principals, instructional leaders, and teachers at Title I campuses to support school improvement efforts focused on increasing mathematics achievement for students not meeting state standards.

  2. Analyze state, district, and campus assessment data to identify student learning needs, monitor progress, and support instructional planning for targeted student groups.

  3. Provide job-embedded coaching, modeling, and instructional support to mathematics teachers to strengthen Tier I instruction and intervention practices.

  4. Assist teachers in designing and implementing rigorous, TEKS-aligned lessons that incorporate evidence-based instructional strategies and address the needs of diverse learners.

  5. Support the implementation of supplemental instructional programs and intervention systems designed to accelerate learning for students performing below grade level.

  6. Lead, develop, and facilitate professional learning for teachers, instructional leaders, and campus staff at Title I campuses focused on evidence-based mathematics instruction, intervention strategies, academic discourse, student engagement, and accelerating achievement for students not meeting state standards.

  7. Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs), data meetings, and collaborative planning sessions that support continuous improvement in mathematics instruction and student outcomes.

  8. Collaborate with campus teams to develop and monitor action plans that address identified achievement gaps among student groups.

  9. Support teachers in the effective use of formative and summative assessment data to adjust instruction and improve student outcomes.

  10. Model effective instructional strategies, academic discourse practices, and student engagement techniques that promote mathematical reasoning and problem-solving.

  11. Assist campuses in implementing strategies and supporting students to increase student access to grade-level content and academic success.

  12. Maintain documentation and records necessary to demonstrate compliance with federal Title I requirements.

  13. Participate in campus and district meetings, professional learning communities, and school improvement initiatives related to mathematics achievement.

  14. Demonstrate leadership by building campus capacity to sustain effective instructional practices and improve outcomes for students served through Title I programs.
