Position Summary
The Title I Teacher works collaboratively with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and administrators to provide targeted academic intervention and support for identified students. Through data-informed decision-making, differentiated instruction, and progress monitoring, the Title I Teacher helps ensure all students receive the support necessary to achieve academic success. The Title I Teacher facilitates data meetings, leads Title I paraprofessionals, and works as a key member of the school's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
Required Professional Preparation and Experience
- Possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate.
- Consent to/pass a background check.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and utilize student data.
- Willingness to collaborate with staff, students, and families.
- Strong sense of empathy and commitment to student success.
Preferred Professional Preparation and Experience
- K-5 All Subjects certification.
- Reading specialist endorsement or related training preferred.
- Experience with intervention programs and progress monitoring systems.
- Successful classroom teaching experience.
- Experience working within an MTSS framework.
Major Responsibilities
- Identify students eligible for Title I services through the analysis of multiple data sources.
- Plan, deliver, and assess targeted small-group and individual interventions in reading and/or mathematics.
- Utilize research-based instructional strategies and interventions to address student learning needs.
- Differentiate instruction based on student performance data and progress monitoring results.
- Conduct regular progress monitoring and maintain accurate records of student growth.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to align intervention services with core instruction.
- Facilitate and participate in student data meetings to support instructional decision making.
- Assist in the development and implementation of intervention plans for students requiring additional academic support.
- Lead, train, and support Title I paraprofessionals in the delivery of interventions and instructional practices.
- Monitor the effectiveness of interventions and adjust programming based on student outcomes.
- Maintain knowledge of current educational research, intervention practices, and assessment tools.
- Communicate student progress and intervention plans with parents and guardians as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and complete records in compliance with district, state, and federal Title I requirements.
- Participate in school improvement initiatives, MTSS processes, and professional learning opportunities.
- Demonstrate a strong belief that all students can learn and achieve at high levels when provided appropriate support.
- Participate in all meetings as required by the school, district, state, or federal guidelines.
- Serve as an educational team member committed to the success of all students.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with Title I documentation, compliance, and reporting requirements.
- Support district and building initiatives related to student achievement and continuous improvement.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
