Position Overview:

The Tax Accountant is responsible for communicating with state and local representatives and various departments within the company to resolve any sales tax related issues. Partner with Deloitte to file Café, Gross Receipts and State and Local Sales and Use Tax Returns on a monthly and quarterly basis. Prepare journal entries and sales tax account reconciliations at the end of the month. Assist with state sales tax audits and internal and external audits when needed.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist Deloitte with the preparation and filing of sales and use tax returns and payments
  • Assist Deloitte with the resolution of sales and use tax notices through written and oral communication
  • Reconcile tax payments to the general ledger
  • Prepare journal entries and sales tax account reconciliations at the end of the month
  • Assist with state sales tax audits and internal and external audits
  • Research and interpret various State and local Tax Codes, Revenue Rulings and Tax Court Cases
  • Respond promptly to various State's requests
  • Responsible for special projects as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Experience in Vertex O series preferred
  • Experience with Oracle and tax research software (Checkpoint) a plus
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel (including v-lookups, pivot tables)
  • Must possess strong analytical skills
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to work independently

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required
  • 3+ years of related experience required

An employee in this position can expect an annual starting rate between $80,000 - $95,000 depending on experience, seniority, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law.
