Description

Summary:

Delivers a full complement of child development/childcare services to a group of toddlers enrolled in the AAMU Child Development Center (CDC).

Examples of Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement a daily program of learning and growth activities to children.
  • Give individual attention to children and parents.
  • Provides health, safety, and general welfare to the toddlers in the CDC.
  • Conduct initial assessment and write daily reports for parents to receive at pick up.
  • Maintain required staff and child records and reports.
  • Follow planned mealtime activities and monitor children during mealtime.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):

  • B.S. degree in Family and Consumer Sciences, Child Development, Early Childhood Education or a closely related area.
  • One - three (1-3) years of teaching experience.
  • At least 19 years of age

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Have a working knowledge of child growth and development principles and practices.
  • An awareness of sources for appropriate curriculum materials.
  • Ability to read with comprehension.
  • Use correct grammar.
  • Write simple and accurate reports.
  • Administer test and other assessment tools.
  • Interpret results to parents as needed.
