Job Summary:The Toll Booth Collector is responsible for efficiently collecting tolls from motorists, ensuring accurate transactions, and providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Key Responsibilities:
  • Toll Collection:
    • Collect toll payments from drivers, ensuring accuracy in cash, credit card, or electronic transactions.
    • Issue receipts as needed and handle change accurately.
  • Customer Service:
    • Interact with motorists in a courteous and professional manner.
    • Provide directions or general information about toll roads and nearby facilities if asked.
  • Transaction Management:
    • Record toll payments and maintain accurate daily transaction logs.
    • Balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Follow all toll booth operational procedures, including safety protocols.
    • Monitor traffic conditions and report any irregularities, accidents, or unsafe conditions to the appropriate authority.
  • Equipment Operation:
    • Operate toll collection systems and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
  • Other Duties:
    • Perform light cleaning of the toll booth to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
    • Assist with other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
 Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in cash handling or customer service is preferred.
  • Strong math and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
  • Reliable transportation to the toll location.
 Key Skills and Competencies:
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling.
  • Ability to work independently and stay focused in repetitive tasks.
  • Basic computer literacy for operating toll software and systems.
 Work Environment:
  • Work is performed in a small, enclosed toll booth with exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Requires sitting or standing for extended periods.
 Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Manual dexterity to operate cash registers and toll equipment.
