Tool And Die Apprentice

The Tooling Technician prepares, sets up, maintains, and repairs precision tooling used in the manufacturing of high-grade stainless-steel tubes and pipes. This role maintains adequate tooling inventory and works cross-functionally to optimize cost and operations. The position plays a critical role in ensuring tooling integrity and production reliability by supporting continuous manufacturing operations, quality assurance, and process optimization.

• Prepare and install tooling for various tube production processes, including pilgering and finishing operations.
• Inspect, clean, and maintain tooling and fixtures to ensure compliance with dimensional accuracy and required finish specifications.
• Perform precision fitting, alignment, and assembly of tooling components to ensure readiness for production use.
• Monitor tooling wear and performance during production and perform timely repairs, adjustments, or replacements to minimize downtime.
• Operate standard and precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify tooling tolerances.
• Maintain accurate tooling records, including setup parameters, maintenance schedules, and usage history.
• Collaborate with production engineers and maintenance personnel to identify and implement tooling improvements that enhance productivity and product quality.
• Assist in the design and development of new or modified tooling and fixtures as required.
• Ensure compliance with company safety standards and industry best practices in all tooling-related activities.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in tooling maintenance, machining, or precision mechanical assembly in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience working with metal-forming equipment or tube/pipe manufacturing processes (highly preferred).
• Proficiency in using standard and precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Demonstrated ability to perform precision fitting, alignment, and assembly of tooling components.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in mechanical and die maintenance.
• Ability to troubleshoot tooling issues and perform timely repairs and adjustments.
• Attention to detail to ensure dimensional accuracy and finish specifications are consistently met.
• Commitment to following safety standards and industry best practices.

• Vocational or technical training in machining, mechanical maintenance, or tooling (preferred).
• Experience in a high-grade stainless-steel tube or pipe manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with pilgering and related tube production processes.
• Experience assisting in the design and development of new or modified tooling and fixtures.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including production and maintenance.
• Strong documentation skills for maintaining accurate records of tooling setups, maintenance, and usage.

This role is based in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility. You work around metal-forming and tube/pipe production equipment and regularly handle precision tooling and measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges. The position involves standing, walking, and working on or near production lines, with a strong emphasis on safety practices and adherence to operational procedures.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jersey Village, TX.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $30.00/hr.
