Tool and Die Maker

About the Role

This position involves the construction, modification, and maintenance of precision tooling and die components. It plays a crucial role in ensuring production uptime and quality across various operations. The role requires advanced expertise in machining, welding, and blueprint interpretation to support production activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Construct, modify, and repair dies, molds, jigs, fixtures, and related tooling to exact specifications.
• Utilize precision grinding, polishing, and lapping techniques to achieve specified finishes and tolerances.
• Operate manual and CNC machines, including surface grinders, milling machines, and lathes.
• Perform welding repairs and heat-treat processes according to specifications.
• Inspect and validate tooling using precision measuring equipment.
• Read and interpret complex tool and die drawings, blueprints, and CAD models.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot tooling problems on the production floor.
• Prepare tooling for external repair and service activities.
• Maintain tooling kits and manage spare tool inventory.
• Collaborate with and provide guidance to Tool and Die Technicians.
• Perform minor machine maintenance and maintain accurate records of activities.
• Maintain 5S standards and follow safety procedures.

Minimum Requirements

• Proven experience as a full-fledged Tool and Die Maker.
• Experience with tooling for die cast, stamping, and/or mold applications.
• Strong skills in precision grinding, machining, and assembly of components.
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings.
• Experience with precision inspection tools and methods.
• Basic reading, writing, math, and computer skills.
• Must pass a job assessment/practical skills test.
• Must hold or obtain a forklift operator license.
• Acceptable attendance and work record required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Welding and heat-treat experience.
• CNC programming/operation experience.

Work Environment

• 10-hour shifts on a 4-day work week.
• 1st Shift: 5:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
• 2nd Shift: 3:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m.
• Mandatory overtime may be required on Fridays.
