Tool & Die Machinist (Aerospace)

Day shift, working Monday through Thursday, 4:00am - 2:30pm

The Tool & Die Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating manual and CNC machining equipment to build, repair, and maintain precision tools, dies, fixtures, and components used in manufacturing. This role interprets blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to machine parts to close tolerances, performs inspections using precision measuring instruments, and troubleshoots tooling issues to support production quality and efficiency. The position requires strong machining knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.

Functions and Responsibilities

  • Perform well defined setups and non-complex operations using CNC on Manual machines.

  • Perform projects having some diversity which may be in support of production operations or job shop machining.

  • Detect faulty processes and provide input for their resolution.

  • Interpret and follow written and verbal instructions, sketches, schedules, drawings and documents.

  • Use precision instruments to check tolerances and quality of parts.

  • Perform all work in accordance with established standards and safety procedures.

  • Responsible for ensuring proper documentation is entered on manufacturing planning (including correct quantities) and paperless timecard system.

  • May be asked to demonstrate basic operations to others with supervisor approval.

  • Work under direct oversight.

Skills, Education and Required Experience

  • Reads and understands manufacturing planning, sketches, blueprints, and specifications as necessary to perform the job function.
  • Basic knowledge of geometric dimensioning and symbols. Knows where to find this information at Exotic, and asks for help when necessary.
  • Understand proper setup and use of tooling associated with machines.
  • Requires familiarity with machine tools, precision instruments and good manual dexterity.
  • Required to perform shop mathematics associated with machining.
  • May have demonstrated expertise in a particular machine type or work on one single purpose machine which may involve multiple machining processes.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED required.

Physical Requirements

Sit, stand and/or walk for 8 hours per day. Occasionally lift items that could be up to 25 pounds.

Competitive Compensation

  • Pay Range: $23.5/hr to $37.1/hr
  • Participation in Annual Incentive Program
