LHH is seeking a Tool & Die Maker for our client. The Tool & Die Maker is responsible for fabricating, assembling, maintaining, and repairing tooling and dies used in production. This role involves analyzing blueprints and specifications, machining components from raw materials, and ensuring alltooling meets exact quality and dimensional requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate new dies and tooling from raw steel stock by interpreting blueprints, sketches, and technical specifications
- Repair, modify, and maintain existing dies to meet production and quality standards
- Set up and operate conventional machine tools including lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and grinders
- Machine and assemble progressive and multi?slide dies
- Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, and dial indicators
- Inspect finished dies for surface finish, contour accuracy, and defects
- Conduct test runs to confirm tooling produces parts that meet specifications
- Select and recommend appropriate metals and alloys based on hardness, heat tolerance, and application
- Apply press fits, slip fits, and tolerances with an understanding of heat?treat impacts prior to grinding
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and problem?solve tooling issues
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow ISO/IATF quality standards, safety regulations, environmental requirements, and company policies
- Stop production when tooling quality does not meet standards
Qualifications & Skills- Proven experience as a Tool & Die Maker or similar role
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Experience operating lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill machines
- Proficiency using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, gauge blocks)
- Experience working with tool steel, aluminum, Teflon, and other materials
Pay/Benefits:- Pay: $25/hr - $34/hr
