     Job Description:

    Job Title: Tool Grinder B

    Job Type: Full-Time

    Work Location: Franklin Park, IL

    JOB PURPOSE

    The Tool Grinder B performs setup and operation of grinders to execute a range of tool grinding tasks.

    JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work from blueprints, specifications, and instructions to braze materials and prepare for grinding operations.
    • Set up equipment for various grinding operations on steel and carbide cutters, reamers, dies, gauges, form tools, or special items.
    • Plan sequence of operations, select holding method, and verify dimensions, tolerance, and grinding requirements.
    • Dress wheels, mount grinding wheels, set grind parameters, position blades, cams, diamonds, and stops.
    • Measure workpiece, position on table, and start machine while observing operations.
    • Perform secondary operations for high finish requirements, obtain first piece inspection approval, and make adjustments as needed.
    • Maintain equipment, perform routine maintenance, and ensure safety devices are operative.
    • Assist other personnel as needed and notify supervisor of equipment or operating problems.
    • Use various measuring instruments, hand and power tools, and follow safety protocols.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • High School Diploma or GED
    • 3+ years of manual machining experience
    • Experience with manual milling and lathes, including facing, boring, drilling, turning, and threading
    • Proficiency in using measurement tools such as caliper, micrometer, height gage, and optical comparator
    • Strong blueprint reading, basic trigonometry, and mathematical skills
