The Tool Maker performs technical tool-making work, including designing, fabricating, modifying, repairing, and maintaining tools, fixtures, and gages to support manufacturing operations. What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, with technical training preferred, along with a minimum of three (3) years of tool making experience or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and experience. Proven experience as a Toolroom Machinist or similar role in a precision manufacturing environment is required, along with strong knowledge of machining processes, materials, and tooling design. 

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented with the ability to interpret complex technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models. Proficiency with precision measuring equipment, manual and CNC machining equipment, and the ability to design, fabricate, modify, and repair tooling, fixtures, and gages are essential. Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to troubleshoot issues, recommend process improvements, and work independently on custom or one-off projects with minimal supervision are required. A commitment to producing high-quality work and maintaining accuracy in a precision manufacturing environment is expected.

What You’ll Do

  • Interpret complex blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical specifications to produce precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Set up and operate manual and CNC machines, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM equipment.
  • Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other inspection tools to ensure exact tolerances.
  • Troubleshoot and repair worn or damaged tooling to restore optimal performance. 
  • Collaborate with engineers and production teams to design and refine tooling solutions for new products or process improvements. 
  • Maintain a clean, organize, and safe work environment, following all safety protocols.
