We are seeking a skilled Tool Room CNC Set Up Technician to support precision tooling and manufacturing operations by setting up and operating CNC machining centers to produce high-quality tooling and precision components. This role is responsible for machine setup, program verification, tooling adjustments, and machining complex parts to extremely close tolerances.
The ideal candidate has experience working in a tool room or precision machining environment and is proficient in CNC setup, blueprint interpretation, precision measurement, and machining operations. This position plays a critical role in supporting production by ensuring tooling is manufactured accurately, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities:
Set up and operate CNC machining centers to manufacture precision tooling, fixtures, jigs, gauges, and production components.
Download, load, verify, and execute CNC programs while making necessary machine offsets and setup adjustments.
Perform machining operations including boring, milling, drilling, thread milling, rigid tapping, reaming, and precision finishing.
Machine parts to close tolerances of ±0.001 inch while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, process sheets, and work instructions.
Select, install, and align cutting tools, workholding devices, fixtures, and tooling required for each setup.
Verify first-piece inspections and make machine adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy throughout production runs.
Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, height gauges, and other inspection instruments.
Troubleshoot machining issues and make programming or tooling adjustments to optimize quality and productivity.
Collaborate with Tool Makers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Production personnel to support tooling development and manufacturing improvements.
Maintain machine performance through routine preventive maintenance and proper housekeeping practices.
Ensure compliance with safety procedures, quality standards, and manufacturing documentation.
Accurately document setup information, tooling changes, inspection results, and production records.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. Technical school or machining certification preferred.
