ABOUT THE ROLE
Amsted Automotive Group, Powder Metal in Geneva, IL, is looking for a Team Leader to perform duties to lead the Tool Room.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Scheduling and delegating work orders.
- Providing me with feedback on work orders on a daily and weekly cadence.
- Ensure tooling work orders are completed in a timely manner by reviewing the weekly press production schedule to plan set ups in the mills and EDM.
- Maintaining 5S and Ideal State of Tool Room on a daily/weekly basis.
- Provide feedback to tool makers on productivity and quality of work.
- Closer of work orders in the work order database upon completion.
- Work on continuous improvement efforts.
- Work with Tool Crib attendant on press tool inventory levels to always maintain adequate inventory levels.
- Promote AAG ideal behaviors and all safety initiatives while maintaining productivity across all 3 shifts.
- Maintain good communication and shift hand off’s in tool room and occasionally press production.
- Ensure machine PM’s are getting completed and scheduled (outside vendor PM’s) promptly.
- Create work instructions, set up sheets, etc.
- Collaborate with engineering on tool/fixture design.
- Ensure VMI (Vallen) is maintaining adequate cutter inventory and cost reductions.
- Ensure tooling is flowing to and from polish (DMP and internal) efficiently.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production to improve press downtime due to tooling quality concerns or tooling not ready.
- Understand and perform to the BN Quality Policy taking pride in the products produced.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical requirements include: good speaking, hearing and vision ability, excellent manual dexterity, ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds occasionally.
Work is performed in a typical manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, dust, dirt, oil and grease, with several elements continuously present to the extent of being objectionable. Full-time position. May require some overtime and weekend hours.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
Supervisory Responsibility: Lead responsibility for checking, assigning and delegating work for up to 30 subordinate regular and contract employees on all shifts. No final responsibility for hiring, firing or discipline.
