Purpose and Mission

Key Activities and Responsibilities

• Study Specifications such as prints, sketches, samples or descriptions to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate tooling
• Compute die & template dimensions and plan sequence of operation
• Set up and operate machine tools such as lathe, ram EDM, wire EDM, grinder, and fly cutter to machine tooling and verify conformance to specifications
• Fit and assemble tooling
• Polish die profiles by lapping using die finishing polishers, applying progressively finer grades of diamond paste
• Verify dimensions, alignments and clearances
• Inspect die for defects such as cracks and scratches
• Responsible for maintaining the efficiency of production operations
• Starting and Stopping Equipment: Following procedures to start up and shut down machinery as needed.
• Inspecting Equipment: Regularly inspecting machinery to ensure it is functioning correctly and performing basic maintenance.
• Adjusting Settings: Modifying machine settings to accommodate different products or processes.
• Collaborating: Working with other team members to resolve issues.

Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a team

Previous Experience

Four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required

Qualifications and Education

• High school diploma or equivalent and graduate from a Tool & Die apprenticeship program
