As a Tool and Die Maker, you will take a hands-on role in building, assembling, testing, and troubleshooting complex metal stamping dies. You'll lead advanced tooling work, conduct die tryouts, possibly mentor junior toolmakers, and collaborate closely with engineering and design teams. With expert-level machining and precision skills, you'll ensure high-quality, safe, and efficient tooling that keeps production running at peak performance.

A Day in the Life:

  • Interpret engineering drawings, die designs, and GD&T with expert precision
  • Safely operate manual machines (knee mill, surface grinder, lathe, drill press) at a master level
  • Lead new progressive die assembly including grinding, polishing, aligning, timing, and verifying clearances
  • Conduct progressive die tryouts/debugging at the punch press and make necessary adjustments
  • Manufacture simple die components that do not require CNC or Wire EDM
  • Build and assemble advanced tooling such as blanking tools, brake tools, and fixtures
  • Develop and refine flat blank geometry for formed parts
  • Repair, sharpen, and maintain dies; dismantle and reassemble components with high accuracy
  • Inspect tooling and parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments
  • Shape, smooth, and finish die components for exact part geometry
  • Review tooling and recommend design improvements for performance and longevity
  • Mentor and support Tool and Die Maker I and II team members
  • Follow all safety and compliance procedures
  • Collaborate with supervisors and designers; document changes and improvements
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
You're a Great Fit If You:
  • Have strong mechanical aptitude and advanced handson machining experience
  • Are highly skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and GD&T
  • Are proficient with precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges
  • Have strong mathematical and problemsolving abilities related to dimensions and tolerances
  • Communicate clearly and work effectively within a team
  • Demonstrate excellent manual dexterity, detail orientation, and a commitment to quality
  • Prioritize safety and follow established procedures
Preferred Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in tool & die making preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in tool & die making with strong manufacturing background
  • Familiarity with CAD software for die design or modification
  • Experience with manual machining, advanced die assembly, inspection, and troubleshooting
