Position Overview Be a part of a motivated team responsible for providing hands-on technical support to all manufacturing operations for instrumentation and electrical control applications of the mill. Responsibilities General Mechanic skills include experience and formal training in precision millwright work, welding, rigging, and pipefitting. Repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, conveyors systems, gearboxes, pumps and production machines and equipment, using hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring and testing instruments. Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble. Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools and power tools. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs and straightedges. Repairs and replaces parts, using hand tools and power tools. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices, using hand tools. Lubricates and cleans parts. May set up drill press, grinder and other metalworking tools to make repair parts. Qualifications Technical degree or Journeyman certificate in industrial maintenance type field with relevant experience. Paper mill or other industrial manufacturing experience preferred. Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively deliver and reinforce consistent messages at all levels. Strong team player who can effectively work with others to meet objectives and timelines. Strong troubleshooting skills and knowledge of various mechanical motors, valves, automated valves, calibrations. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including periods of time in noisy, dusty, hot or cold environments. Ability to work with plant personnel, engineering groups, and outside contractors to ensure the proper execution of work. Prioritization of time and work. Use of self-initiative and independence to complete tasks with urgency and meet deadlines. Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
