We are currently seeking a dependable, safety-focused Tow Truck Driver to join our growing team. Whether you prefer driving an established company unit or utilizing your own compliant equipment, we offer flexible arrangements to get you on the road.
Core Responsibilities
Roadside Operations & Transport
Vehicle Pickups: Safely execute vehicle recovery, towing, and transport along Maryland stateside roads, highways, and local routes.
Customer Service: Provide courteous, reassuring, and professional communication to stranded motorists during stressful situations.
On-Site Assessment: Evaluate vehicle positioning, mechanical damage, and road conditions to determine the safest rigging and loading strategy.
Safety & Compliance
Equipment Inspection: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the tow truck, winch, straps, and safety equipment.
Regulatory Adherence: Comply strictly with all Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) regulations, federal motor carrier safety rules, and local traffic laws.
Scene Safety: Properly deploy cones, emergency lights, and warning triangles to secure the work zone on active roadways.
Administration & Maintenance
Documentation: Accurately log dispatch details, mileage, service times, and customer signatures using mobile tools or paper manifests.
Truck Upkeep: Keep the assigned or personal tow truck clean, organized, and routinely serviced for optimal performance.
Dispatch Communication: Maintain clear, prompt communication with dispatchers regarding arrival times, job completions, and unexpected delays.
Qualifications & Requirements
Licensing: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (CDL may be required depending on the weight class of the truck operated).
Experience: Previous towing, wrecker operation, or flatbed experience is strongly preferred, but safety-minded individuals with professional driving backgrounds will be considered.
Equipment Flexibility: Must be willing to operate a company-provided tow truck OR provide your own properly registered, insured, and inspected tow vehicle.
Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy rigging equipment, bend, kneel, and work outdoors in varying Maryland weather conditions.
Background Check: Must pass a standard motor vehicle record (MVR) check and drug screening.
