Track Coach (MS)

Guide participating student athletes to achieve a high level of skill, discipline, sportsmanship and citizenship. To oversee and promote the Track Intramurals program in accordance with NFHS, IHSA and RPS 205 Board Policies and athletic handbook.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Planning and communicating with coaching staff regarding practice schedule and competition strategies
  • Coordinating fundraisers, athletic activity account deposits and distributions of funds
  • Managing the distribution and collection of uniforms and sport specific inventory
  • Ensuring compliance with District requirements including athletic physicals, student code of conduct, athletic fees paid, academic eligibility and all other standards included in the district athletic handbook
  • Modeling/instilling values of sportsmanship, citizenship and teamwork
  • Maintaining individual and team statistics and records
  • Supervising student athletes during all track activities and events
  • Planning and implementing a seasonal awards recognition program
  • Engaging in sport specific professional development education
  • Implementing programmatic instruction of sequential fundamentals to their feeder programs and working closely with the strength and conditioning coach

Qualifications:

  • Valid Illinois Teachers Certificate and/or Meets IHSA Criteria
  • Previous track coach experience preferred

  • Ability to work independently under broad or limited supervision
  • Ability to establish priorities appropriately, demonstrating an understanding of the urgency of tasks and the impact of tasks
  • Demonstrates integrity, honesty, a sense of responsibility, and loyalty in the performance of all tasks
  • Ability to take responsibility for his or her team assignments
  • Ability to use clear, concise language to provide timely and accurate written and oral communication

Working conditions include:

  • Moderate in-district travel as well as intermittent in-state and out-of-state travel
  • Intermittent prolonged and irregular hours of work
