Position Summary:  Operates gasoline or diesel-powered tractor-trailers to transport and deliver products or materials in liquid, loose, or packaged form. This role is responsible for safe driving, accurate documentation, product handling, and compliance with regulatory and safety standards, including hazardous materials when applicable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate tractor-trailer to transport and deliver goods to designated locations
  • Read and interpret customer orders, shipping papers, and purchase orders
  • Schedule and complete deliveries and pickups in a timely manner
  • Inspect vehicle pre- and post-trip; report defects and coordinate maintenance/repairs
  • Verify product type, quantity, and documentation during pickup and delivery
  • Maintain accurate records including driver logs, bills of lading, inspection reports, and trip documentation
  • Ensure proper labeling, placards, and packaging compliance (including hazardous materials)
  • Assist with loading/unloading, including use of forklift when needed
  • Handle return materials and containers
  • Support warehouse activities such as product drumming, maintenance, and housekeeping when not driving
  • Follow hazardous waste procedures, including handling, inspection, spill response, and documentation per site contingency plans

Qualifications:

              Required

  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
  • 1–3 years of related driving, warehouse, or logistics experience
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL – all classes)
  • Hazardous Materials and Tanker Endorsements
  • Ability to pass DOT physical examination
  • Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide; ratios and percentages)
  • Ability to read, interpret, and complete required documentation
  • Strong problem-solving and reasoning skills
  • Ability to operate a forklift
  • Twic Card

              Preferred

  • Prior Experience transporting hazardous materials
  • Experience with shipping/receiving or warehouse operations
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance (DOT, ICC, hazardous waste handling)

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and potentially hazardous chemicals
  • Occasional exposure to high places, wet/humid conditions, vibration, and electrical risk
  • Moderate noise levels typical of transportation and warehouse environments

Physical Requirements

  • Regular sitting, driving, and use of hands for controls and equipment
  • Frequent climbing and balancing
  • Occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
  • Ability to lift:
    • Up to 25 lbs regularly
    • Up to 50 lbs frequently
    • Up to 100 lbs occasionally
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
