Job Description

Pay Range: $28.33hr - $33.33hr

Job Overview:

The candidate will research, analyze, and assign Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS) classifications for imported products, equipment, materials, components, and spare parts. The successful candidate will gather and evaluate technical product information from engineering drawings, specifications, product literature, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. The role involves applying classification methodologies using HTSUS, General Rules of Interpretation, and relevant customs regulations to ensure regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply classification methodologies using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS).
  • Utilize General Rules of Interpretation (GRIs).
  • Reference CBP CROSS rulings.
  • Apply Explanatory Notes.
  • Adhere to relevant customs regulations and legal authorities.
  • Develop and maintain detailed classification justifications to support audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with Customs Operations, Regulatory Compliance, Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Business Units to obtain required information and resolve classification questions.
  • Review and monitor classification requests to ensure timely and accurate completion.
  • Support customs audits, internal reviews, customs inquiries, and binding ruling activities.
  • Conduct classification quality reviews and consistency checks across systems and processes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, process enhancements, training efforts, and classification governance programs.
  • Support annual tariff updates, classification revalidations, and classification data maintenance activities.
