TRADES AND MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT

This is introductory work performing routine maintenance, repair, and construction activities in the building, mechanical, or electrical trades. Employees in this class are trainees who complete on-the-job training which will prepare them to provide maintenance support in areas such as carpentry, cabinetmaking, roofing, painting, or other trades. Positions may also provide limited assistance in specialized trades such as electrical, plumbing, or heating and air. Vacancies are filled by direct appointment by various departments across the State. No examination is required. No employment register is maintained. Applicants meeting the qualifications below must apply directly to the department for which they wish to work or to the State Personnel Department to be placed on the direct appointment list for Trades and Maintenance Assistant.
