ENTRY LEVEL SALARY: $40,560

PAY GRADE RANGE: $40,560 - $64,896 (Pay grade 307)

CIVIL SERVICE EXAM: Written Exam

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Performs carpentry (i.e., finish, rough, forms, etc.), masonry, electrical, painting, plumbing, and/or any other type of work necessary for the repair and maintenance of City-owned facilities and property.

Performs roofing work, concrete finishing work, and/or sheetrock work (i.e., hand, finish, etc.) with City facilities.

Drives pick-up truck or any other City vehicle assigned to Facility Services to and from job sites.

May work with a Skilled Trades Craftsworker to complete various tasks for facility maintenance.

Works with other employees to move furniture throughout COK facilities.

Estimates job requirements for the amount of supplies, labor, equipment, etc. will be needed for the job.

Operates a fork lift to move equipment around the shop and unload delivery trucks at the shop.

Installs complete play structures and maintains playground equipment at city parks.

Works with a Skilled Trades Craftsworker to maintain Ballfield lights and related equipment. Hang banners and repair flag poles requiring the use of a bucket truck.

Works with Skilled Trades Craftsworker to install and maintain HVAC equipment.

Works as a crew member or individually to perform preventive maintenance on city buildings parks and playgrounds.

Help Skilled Trades Craftsworker set up power for special events.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

Performs related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of accepted maintenance principles used in painting.

Knowledge of basic carpentry and small building construction.

Knowledge of tools and equipment used in general maintenance.

Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precaution.

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the public and other employees.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position consists of very heavy work, requiring the incumbent to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds (or more) of force frequently in order to lift/carry, push/pull, or otherwise move objects. MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

This position uses relevant principles and procedures to solve practical problems and to deal with a variety of concrete variables in situation where only limited standardization exists. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

One (1) year of experience performing building maintenance tasks or any building maintenance trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc.).

Must possess an appropriate Driver's License as required by State Law.
