Under the general direction of the designated supervisor, incumbent performs complex level repairs and installations in a specific trade. Assists and/or oversees maintenance of equipment and systems in assigned areas. Incumbent will be expected to have thorough knowledge in the discipline(s) for which they will be responsible. This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities and Reporting

During an Emergency Situation:

Essential Employees may be required to work during a declared emergency. Depending on the nature of the emergency, this may require working around the clock for several days on short notice.

Non Essential Employees will not be required to work during a declared emergency. The employees Department Head will determine when the employee will be required to work.

Duties/Responsibilities

Performs skilled to highly skilled trades work in area assigned Performs general maintenance tasks Performs skilled installation and repair/modification, site layout, troubleshooting, diagnostics within assigned trades. Operates various manual and electrical tools in the performance of tasks Under the direction of the designated supervisor, designs and implements preventive maintenance programs to ensure compliance with sanitary and health codes. Clean and repair equipment as needed Participates in on-call duty. May be required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of assigned tasks. This position requires regular and reliable attendance and the employee's physical presence at the workplace Performs other duties as assigned.

When Assigned to Facilities Management:

May assist in general maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, hanging pictures, filter changes, patching and painting of the exterior and interior of buildings as needed. Assist Facilities Management Electrician in all aspects of related electrical work. Responsible for complex plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC repairs/maintenance. Assist in the repair and maintenance of city facilities. May repair pumps and motors. May be responsible to lead a crew

Working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of equipment required for assigned task Knowledgeable in the occupational hazards, safety precautions and personal protective equipment observed in the trade(s) assigned. Knowledgeable in the City and State rules, regulations and protocols. Knowledgeable in general housekeeping practices Knowledgeable in basic report and record maintenance principles and practices. Skilled in the efficient and safe operation of trade specific tools and equipment. Skilled in troubleshooting and repair within assigned trade(s). Skilled in prioritization, organization, time management, and attention to detail. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to adapt to performing under frequent deadlines and/or in response to emergencies. Ability to operate vehicles and necessary equipment including but not limited to hand tools. Minimum Requirements

High School diploma or GED. Experience, and/or training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities can be substituted for the High School diploma or GED. Five years of experience in related field A valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. Mandatory Drug/Alcohol Testing required.

Visual Acuity 2 - color, depth perception, field of vision. Visual Acuity 3 - determine accuracy, neatness, observe facilities/structures. Visual Acuity 4 - operate motor vehicles/heavy equipment. Visual Acuity 5 -close acuity for inspection of small defects, machines, use measurement devices, or fabricate parts. Walking - on foot to accomplish tasks, long distances, or site to site.

Work Environment

Tasks are performed outside, subject to weather conditions and uneven terrain, and risk of exposure to toxic agents/chemicals, pathogens, and smoke. Contact with internal and external customers, vendors and the general public.

Ability to perform strenuous work in varying and adverse weather conditions. Must have the ability to work after hours, including nights, weekends, holidays and during emergencies. May be required to work hours other than the regular schedule including on call hours.
