- POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
- Undergraduate Business Degree or equivalent relevant experience in lieu of degree
- Five years of previous industry experience, with expertise in a product line (equity, fixed income, money markets, or derivatives)
- Experience with global and domestic equity and fixed income financial markets
- Experience with operational management of derivative instruments
- Fixed Income, Equity or Money Market Security knowledge
- Experience with derivative operations or collateral management is a plus
- Experience with global settlements
- Working knowledge of the middle office workflows, industry trading platforms and databases
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills
- Experience with MS Office products (Excel, Word)
MAJOR DUTIES:
Responsible for global and domestic settlement and derivative operations management. This position requires the ability to work independently, make appropriate and accurate decisions, and to assist in development and implementation of ideas and procedures that minimize transaction risk and enhance operational performance. As Specialist, the position acts in the role of subject matter expert in particular asset classes. Additionally, as SME, participate and at times lead projects within Trading Operations.
- Manages day-to-day planning, operations and problem solving to meet the required service levels of Trading
- Significant time (typically 50%) will be dedicated to completing special projects as assigned (requirements gathering for projects, implementation of new systems and products, enhancement of existing processes, support new business development initiatives)
- Offers solutions and suggestions for process development and improvement
- Is the subject matter expert (SME) regarding processes and workflow for Fixed Income, Equity, or Money Market Operations
- Assist in the review, testing, enhancement, and implementation of new procedures and/or processes resulting from reengineering, new initiatives, increased quality control, or as mandated by corporate policy
- Make moderate to complex changes to operational workflow, understanding the impact of workflow changes on Global Trading Operations teams and applicable systems
- Direct responsibilities for global and domestic settlement management, including electronic trade date confirmation, web-based settlement instructions management, resolution of unmatched market trades, repurchase agreement collateral management, currency netting, fail trade tracking, resolution and reporting and claims management
- Perform and document periodic audits of analyst and associate functions to measure adherence to operational policies and procedures
- Coordinate with internal / external technology resources (business analysts, system developers, programmers) to research problems and recommend solutions
- Provide oversight to all teams in Global Trading Operations, prioritizing, training, and delegating business unit responsibilities
- Regular communication with Managers of Global Trading Operations regarding oversight and escalation of operational issues
- Oversight of service providers (BBH/Infomediary trade messaging and trade management outsourced relationship, Operin, etc.) to ensure satisfactory operational support levels
- Prioritizes and makes decisions relating to daily operational issues as they arise
- Demonstrate this decision making, problem solving, and analytical skills with particular attention given to detail and accuracy
- Ensure accuracy of related systems by reviewing aggregate transactions and reconciling data on a periodic basis (monthly and/or quarterly)
- Seek to enhance knowledge of Federated and financial services industry through continuous training and education
