Position Summary
The Traffic Clerk is responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound shipments to ensure efficient warehouse operations. This position works closely with customer service representatives, clients, trucking companies, and warehouse personnel to maintain accurate shipping and receiving records while providing excellent customer service. The Traffic Clerk ensures all documentation is completed accurately and shipments are processed on time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Schedule inbound and outbound freight in accordance with warehouse capacity and operational requirements.
- Coordinate truck arrivals, departures, drivers, equipment, and freight movements.
- Prepare, review, and maintain accurate shipping and receiving documentation, including Bills of Lading (BOLs).
- Verify shipping and receiving paperwork for accuracy and completeness.
- Serve as the primary point of contact at the dispatch window for drivers, customers, and customer representatives.
- Maintain accurate shipping logs, records, and reports.
- Monitor and update the dock door control board to ensure accurate trailer and dock assignments.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, customer service, and transportation partners to ensure timely shipment processing.
- Assist with training new employees on shipping and receiving procedures.
- Help maintain facility security and follow company safety policies.
- Report unsafe conditions to management and promote a safe work environment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area.
- Provide excellent customer service while interacting with internal and external partners.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in shipping, receiving, transportation, logistics, warehouse operations, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer and data entry skills.
