    Reporting to the Distribution Area Manager, the Traffic Coordinator is responsible for the accurate preparation of all documents required to transport freight, and all pre-shipment and post-shipment shipment Distribution activities for both international and

    domestic shipments.

    This position is part of the Logistics & Transportation department located in Romeoville, IL and will be on-site.

    Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9am – 5:30pm, overtime and weekends may be required.

    In this role, a typical day will look like:

    • Accurately prepares all documentation required to transport shipments.

    • Transportation Documents (domestic and international).

    • Accurately prepares all documentation required to transport shipments.

    • Export and Hazardous Material Compliance documents.

    • Order-specific documentation.

    • Performs pre-shipment activities.

    • Auditing Deliveries for Haz Class, Address, Forwarder, Ship Method, Freight Cost, etc.

    • Confirming shipment “priority” is correct w/ order management and customer service prior to creating shipment

    • Conduct pallet audit to assist w/ locating missing cartons

    • Provides carrier routing and hazardous material information.

    • Interacts with customer service, carriers and freight forwarders.

    • Performs post-shipment activities.

    • Send out email communication

    • Providing missing documentation

    • Filing shipping documents adequately

    • Completes work assignments daily to ensure all customer orders ship on time

    • Meet/Exceed On-Time Delivery (OTD) Metric

    • Deep dive to root cause of missed shipments assisting data analyst and leadership

    • Support continuous improvement initiatives including but not limited to the following:

    • Kaizen Events

    • PSP

    • Assigned Trainings

    • Daily/Weekly/Monthly Departmental Meetings

    • Communicate carrier pickups daily to appropriate carrier following standard operating procedures

    • Provide carriers w/ manifest communication via email

    • Follow-up to confirm receipt of scheduled pickup communication

    • Coordinates return deliveries w /direct communication to carriers/forwarders, customer service and order management

    • Monitor departmental supplies and communicate with leadership immediately when replenishment is needed.

    • Maintains MS Office PC programs used by domestic and international for all modes of transportation.

    • Creates text and makes changes as required by Distribution Compliance.

    • Interacts directly with Export and Distribution Compliance to maintain transportation database

    • Comply with company safety & housekeeping policies.

    • Complete daily and weekly 5S duties.

    • Work collaboratively with Shipping Leadership and Outbound Dock Teams to ensure all orders are documented and packed accurately and on time.

    • Audit and inspect orders before staging and shipping. Audits include checking for proper labeling and verifying that the documents match the cartons packed.

    • Cross training and assist in training new employees.

    • Other duties as assigned by manager

    • Works in other departments as assigned

    The essential requirements of the job include:  

    • High School Diploma/GED required; Associate degree in an administrative or business discipline preferred.

    • 1 year or more experience in working with Carriers, Import and Export Compliance, DOT regulations or similar distribution experience.

    • Previous experience in a shipping or receiving role preferred.

    • Notary certificate or willing and able to be certified.

    Skills:

    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products: MS Word, Excel, Access.

    • Basic math.

    • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • ERP experience preferred (i.e. Oracle, Pando)

    • Ability to read, write, and speak English is required. Bilingual language skills are a plus.

    Knowledge:

    • Possesses a working knowledge of manufacturing shipping processes and procedures helpful.

    • Possesses a working knowledge of general office procedures and processes.

    The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.

    The compensation range for this role is $26.25 - $26.25 USD per hour. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.
