    Traffic Engineering Practice Lead

    Department Transportation Employment Type: Full Time Location: Pittsburgh, PA Reporting To: Dan Laird

Our talented staff of more than 650 professionals deliver integrated planning, design, engineering, and construction solutions.

    Due to MSGs continued growth, we are expanding our Transportation practice throughout Pennsylvania, with active expansion in our Hermitage, Cranberry, and Waynesburg offices. We are seeking a Traffic Practice Leader to guide traffic engineering efforts, support a range of transportation projects, and help build a strong local team. This role is ideal for an experienced traffic engineer interested in technical leadership and practice growth within a developing market.

    Key Responsibilities • Lead traffic engineering tasks, including traffic studies, capacity analysis, modeling, signal design, safety studies, and corridor evaluations. • Prepare reports, technical memos, plans, and supporting documentation. • Manage and oversee traffic components for roadway and planning projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables. • Develop signal timing plans, ITS layouts, signing and pavement marking plans, and traffic control plans. • Use analysis and modeling tools, such as Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, SIDRA, or related software. • Collaborate closely with roadway structural planning, survey, and environmental groups. • Train, mentor, and support junior traffic staff. • Participate in client meetings, presentations, and coordination with municipalities and state agencies. • Support proposal development, scoping, and business development efforts as MSG expands its Pennsylvania presence. • Ensure compliance with PennDOT MUTCD and AASHTO requirements.

    Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related field. • Professional Engineer (PE) preferred, with ability to obtain PA PE if not already licensed. • 15 years of traffic engineering experience, prior consulting experience required. • Proficiency with traffic analysis tools, such as Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, SIDRA, or similar. • Strong understanding of MUTCD standards, PennDOT requirements, and traffic engineering principles. • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    Preferred Qualifications • Experience working on PennDOT projects or local municipal clients. • PTOE certification. • Experience contributing to or leading traffic teams in a consulting environment.
