Definition
A position in this job category typically installs, troubleshoots and repairs traffic signal equipment or systems, highway lighting systems and wiring systems; and informs the responsible person or organization of difficulties, accomplishments, plans or goals.
Requirements
This position requires a valid New Jersey driver's license. Must obtain a Class B CDL with Air Brakes and Tanker endorsement within 90 days of hire.
Education
Completion of a vocational, technical or specialized training program in electrical or electronic technology. Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute one (1) year of additional experience.
Experience
One (1) year of experience in work involving the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical or electronic components, equipment or systems.
License
Valid NJ drivers license.

Operates a motor vehicle
Operates cherry picker, ladder, platform, or boom trucks
Operates volt or ohm meters
Troubleshoots problems with traffic signal equipment or systems
Installs traffic signal equipment or systems
Installs electrical components and wiring systems
Troubleshoots problems with wiring systems and electrical components
Operates signal tracers
Repairs traffic signal equipment or systems
Repairs radar traffic signal detector units
Tests electronic circuitry
Installs overhead and underground cables
Installs highway lighting systems
Repairs electrical components and wiring systems

Knowledge of procedures for installing traffic signal equipment or systems, and highway lighting systems

Knowledge of procedures for installing underground and overhead cables
Knowledge of procedures for testing wiring systems and electrical components
