Job Description
Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-driven Tanker Inspector to ensure tankers, cargo tanks, and related equipment meet all regulatory, safety, and structural integrity standards. This role plays a critical part in preventing failures, maintaining compliance, and protecting both personnel and the environment.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, inspection experience, and a deep understanding of safety regulations and documentation.

Key Responsibilities
•Perform visual and mechanical inspections of tanker units, cargo tanks, or storage tanks
•Inspect welds, valves, piping, structural components, and safety systems
•Conduct or assist with pressure testing, leak testing, and thickness testing
•Verify compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and industry standards
•Identify defects, corrosion, cracks, or structural concerns
•Document findings in detailed inspection reports
•Recommend repairs, maintenance, or removal from service when necessary
•Work closely with maintenance teams and management on corrective actions
•Maintain inspection tools, gauges, and testing equipment
•Follow all company and site-specific safety protocols

Qualifications
•Experience in mechanical inspection, heavy equipment, tankers, or industrial equipment
•Strong knowledge of safety and compliance standards
•Ability to read technical drawings and inspection criteria
•Comfortable working in shop and outdoor environments
•Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
•Basic computer skills for reporting

Preferred Certifications (not always required but HUGE plus)

Depending on the type of tanks:
•CTMV (Certified Cargo Tank Inspector)
•API 510, 653, or 570
•NDT experience (UT, MT, PT, VT)
•Welding inspection background (CWI)
•DOT cargo tank inspection experience
