Job Title: Trailer Mechanic

Job Description

Join a full-service Semi-Trailer dealership as a journeyman-level Semi-Trailer Repair Technician. This role involves examining equipment and discussing issues with the Service Writer or Service Manager, understanding complex systems, and demonstrating proficiency in various repair tasks.


Responsibilities


+ Examine equipment and discuss the nature and extent of damage or malfunction.

+ Understand air, electrical, and braking systems, including ABS systems, air disc brakes, and drum brakes.

+ Identify and replace brake shoes, drums, shocks, air bags, and suspension bushings.

+ Troubleshoot and repair issues with semi-trailer suspensions and operate diagnostic equipment like Lite-Check and ACOM ABS.

+ Repair rear doors, reefer, and dry freight trailers.

+ Ensure compliance with FHWA and Federal DOT regulations through necessary repairs.

+ Perform trailer body work, including sheet and post for dry van and reefer trailers, floor, and roof repairs.

+ Troubleshoot and repair liftgate and lighting systems.

+ Design and fabricate solutions for structural repairs or modifications.

+ Document and account for actions during the repair process.


Essential Skills


+ Proficiency in troubleshooting and maintenance as a technician.

+ 3+ years of semi-trailer repair experience.

+ Experience in welding and fabrication.

+ Mechanical and automotive repair experience.

+ Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, heavy equipment, and brakes.


Additional Skills & Qualifications


+ Welding experience and possession of hand tools.

+ Trailer-related certifications are a plus.

Work Environment


Work in an industrial semi-truck repair shop that is both organized and clean. The shop operates Monday through Friday from 6:30am to 3pm.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Clackamas, OR.


Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $38.00/hr.
