The trainer/facilitator within the Corporate & Continuing Education Division, will focus on the design, facilitation, and delivery of high-impact professional education and workforce training programs serving the automotive retail and automotive aftermarket sectors.

This position supports Northwood University's commitment to developing industry leaders through practical, applied learning experiences that strengthen organizational performance, employee capability, and career advancement.

The trainer/facilitator will deliver non-credit and continuing education programming to corporate partners, industry professionals, and adult learners through in-person, virtual, and hybrid instructional formats.

Responsibilities

Instruction & Training Delivery

  • Facilitate and deliver corporate and continuing education programming for professionals in the automotive retail and automotive aftermarket industries.
  • Teach assigned courses, workshops, certificate programs, executive education offerings, and customized workforce training programs.
  • Create engaging and application-oriented learning experiences that connect academic concepts to real-world business practices.
  • Deliver instruction utilizing adult learning principles and experiential teaching methodologies.
  • Lead classroom, virtual, and hybrid learning environments while maintaining high participant engagement and instructional quality.
  • Tailor examples, discussion, and application exercises to align with organizational and industry needs.
  • Assess participant learning outcomes and provide constructive feedback that supports professional development.
  • Maintain instructional readiness, course preparation, and timely completion of required academic and administrative processes.
  • Support continuous enhancement of curriculum relevance through incorporation of current industry practices and emerging trends.
  • Serve as a professional representative of Northwood University during all instructional engagements.

Curriculum Support & Program Excellence

  • Collaborate with Corporate & Continuing Education leadership to refine course content and instructional approaches.
  • Provide recommendations for new programming opportunities based on evolving workforce and industry needs.
  • Participate in periodic trainer/facilitator meetings, training, and program evaluation activities.
  • Contribute subject matter expertise to support the development of certificates, executive education, and continuing education offerings.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of professional experience in automotive retail, automotive aftermarket, dealership operations, fixed operations, variable operations, mobility, or related business sectors.
  • Prior teaching, training, facilitation, coaching, or workforce development experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage adult learners and translate industry experience into meaningful instruction.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and classroom facilitation skills.
  • Ability to teach effectively across in-person and virtual environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience delivering corporate training, executive education, or continuing education programming.
  • Familiarity with instructional technologies and learning management systems.
  • Experience developing instructional materials or curriculum.
  • Professional certifications or recognized industry credentials.

Working Conditions

  • Part-time trainer/facilitator appointment based on program scheduling and enrollment demand.
  • Flexible instructional schedule including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Travel may be required for on-site delivery to corporate partners, industry events, and Northwood University locations.
