Overview:
The Training and Development Coordinator leads the design, delivery, and evaluation of training and development programs to support employee and faculty growth within the institution. It oversees initiatives such as onboarding, mentoring, job shadowing, and ongoing professional development. Additionally, this role collaborates with leaders across the organization to ensure training meets specific job requirements, manages performance evaluations, and develops student orientation materials to facilitate academic technology access. For faculty, the position coordinates professional development, including workshops on teaching strategies, compliance with Faculty Quality Assurance System (FQAS) requirements, and a structured onboarding program for adjunct faculty, fostering a collaborative approach to instructional excellence and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
(50%) Training and Talent Development
- Deliver, facilitate, and evaluate internal training and development programs and processes, including new employee orientation/onboarding, mentoring, job shadow program, leadership connections, quarterly and annual all-staff professional development events, and ongoing development for all employees.
- Manage design and process of Lakeshore’s performance evaluation reviews using software and provide training on goal setting, annual professional development achievement and employee performance reviews.
- Collaborates with leaders across the organization to identify job-specific training and development.
- Serves as key professional development organizer; research, design and implement professional development programming utilizing internal resources and external consultants, vendors, or organizations.
- Assist in maintaining teaching and learning and professional development resources for staff and faculty
- Oversee the development and maintenance of student orientation materials, including online modules and resources that support students in navigating academic technology. Collaborate with other departments to create and maintain online technology resources.
(35%) Faculty Development
- Design and facilitate workshops and training sessions on effective teaching strategies, technology integration, and inclusive pedagogy and andragogy.
- Develop training materials, guides, and online resources to support faculty and staff in adopting best practices in teaching and learning.
- Provide support to faculty in their instructional practices, especially for new faculty and adjunct instructors.
- Conduct one-on-one small group coaching sessions for faculty seeking individual support in instructional strategies and technology tools, including but not limited to Blackboard, WIDs, etc.
- Serve as WTCS Faculty Quality Assurance System (FQAS) program coordinator for full-time and adjunct faculty including onboarding, mentoring, and professional development.
- Serve as Lakeshore’s liaison for WTCS Faculty Quality Assurance System and state-wide initiatives.
- Create, implement, and maintain a program for Adjunct faculty onboarding, development, engagement, and evaluation to ensure meeting Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) Faculty Quality Assurance System (FQAS), Higher Learning Commission (HLC), and Lakeshore requirements.
- Responsible for submission of FQAS annual reports, Professional Growth Grant activities, and coordination of FQAS site visits.
(15%) Support of Initiatives and Manager
- Support TLC’s strategic initiatives related to teaching and learning that may be implemented by the Manager, including but not limited to, Universal Design for Learning, AI integration, etc.
- Support the Manager’s functions in additional ways that may be assigned, such as researching curriculum for transfer comparison, testing and reporting on educational technology, etc.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related discipline required. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Four to five years of related occupational experience required with experience in leadership and organizational development preferred.
- Two years of teaching experience with higher education, preferred.
Note: May consider candidates with alternative combinations of education and experience consistent with the College’s equivalency guidelines.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- Articulate Storyline and Rise e-learning development
- Familiarity with media software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, etc.
- Use or management of a Learning Management System (LMS)
- Use and editing of SharePoint sites
