    The Department of Community Justice Adult Services Division (ASD) is looking for an experienced trainer and criminal justice database expert to teach the ASD Corrections Technician (CT) Team within the department. This team uses various criminal justice databases, they give quality customer service, they look for process efficiency, and give support for Justice Involved Individuals (JIIs) and staff.

    As the Trainer and Evaluation Program Specialist, you will provide training, coaching and feedback to the ASD Corrections Technician Team.  This work will look like: developing, and/or evaluating unit practices, DCJ policies, State procedures and Interstate agreements to support the JIIs behavioral change and keep the community safe.

    We are looking for a Technical Trainer who has expertise in the following areas:

    • Develop and maintain customized training materials and curriculum for the CT Team including new hire, transfers, and continuing education.

    • Maintain, review, update, and communicate current business workflow and practices regarding the CT Team.

    • Create, document, implement and monitor training plans for the CT Team.

    • Provide training in criminal justice systems and new technologies pertaining to the CT Team functions.

    • Develop business rules and procedures for use and training of new systems, features, and enhancements to ensure data integrity among the CT Team.

    • Analyze CT Team process data for consistency, identifications of training needs, quality control, and adherence to procedures.

    • Analyze systems/business practices then create analysis/recommendation documentation.

    • Assist in the design, development and implementation of new and enhanced systems for department initiatives and business changes.

    • Work with business groups in order to develop, implement, and monitor CT Team processes.

DCJ routinely consults and makes use of evidence-based practices in our program and policy development.     TO QUALIFY:

    Minimum  Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:

    • Associate’s degree, or equivalent experience, in criminal justice, administration of justice, public administration, business administration, or a related field; AND

    • Three (3) years of work experience doing planning, development and evaluation of staff in community corrections, law enforcement or corrections, to include the development of manuals and training; AND

    • Must pass a thorough background investigation which includes, but is not limited to, a review of applicant’s criminal, civil, driving, military, educational and employment history prior to employment.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilites (KSAs):

    • Advanced level experience and ability to review processes and data entry work in the various criminal justice systems (i.e. CIS, LEDS, eCourts, etc.).

    • Advanced level experience interpreting and analyzing criminal justice documents.

    • Advanced level experience evaluating, creating, and implementing training materials and curriculum; and staff training, coaching, and team building.

    Schedule: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week

    Telework(remote): Ad Hoc (limited availability); subject to the Multnomah County Telework Policy and based on the Department’s business needs.
