Training Coordinator II/Instructor

The Department of Administrations (Admin) Division of State Human Resources is seeking an enthusiastic Training Coordinator II/Instructor to join our Learning and Organizational Development (LOD) team. The LOD team fosters the coordination and delivery of professional development and training initiatives for state employees. In this role, you will provide efficient and reliable administrative support for the Learning and Organizational Development team, working to ensure the delivery of accurate, precise and effective services to all customers. This role is ideal for an individual with exceptional communication skills, a deep understanding of adult learning principles, and focused on facilitating engaging, learner-centered experiences.

This position is onsite in Columbia, SC.

Responsibilities of the Training Coordinator II/Instructor:

  • Consult and coordinate with agencies and provide both customized and open enrollment training courses, to include conducting needs assessments. Present soft skills content and facilitate trainee group problem solving and group processing.
  • Lead the development, planning and coordination of the Train the Trainer program. Develop and track training metrics and surveys to evaluate the Train the Trainer program.
  • Design and develop engaging instructor-led and eLearning training programs using Adult Learning Theory and instructional design principles. Create lesson plans, presentations, activities, job aids, facilitator guides, and other learning materials that support effective learning outcomes. Maintain and update training content, manuals, and learning resources to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with agency and LOD standards.
  • Lead all aspects of the Customer Service course (custom and open enrollment) to include consulting and coordinating with agencies for all custom Customer Service training requests. Create curriculum to meet the developmental needs of each specific customer. Develop and track training metrics and surveys to evaluate the Customer Service course offering.
  • Assist in the coordination of the Certified Public Manager (CPM) and LeadSC certification programs.
  • Serve as a Learning Management System (LMS) administrator. Input and update information into the Learning Management System.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelors degree and relevant training and development experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of applicable adult learning principles and best practices.
  • Knowledge of methods and techniques of conducting formal and informal training sessions.
  • Knowledge of visual aid use and development.
  • Ability to conduct conferences, lead discussions, instruct training groups and stimulate individuals and groups in the learning process.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Skill in utilizing Microsoft Office products.
