Summary

This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Training & Internal Communications Coordinator who will be all-in on our mission and who supports Organizational Effectiveness by coordinating employee training programs, professional development initiatives, employee recognition events, and internal communications. This position is responsible for planning and coordinating training logistics, facilitating select training sessions, supporting learning management system administration, and developing engaging internal communications that promote employee engagement and organizational culture. The Coordinator works collaboratively with departments across the College to deliver high-quality learning experiences and clear, consistent internal messaging that supports Amarillo Colleges mission and strategic priorities.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Required: Bachelors Degree in Communications, Marketing, Education, Instructional Design, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field.

Preferred: Master's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Education, Instructional Design, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Three (3) years of experience coordinating training programs, workshops, conferences, or organizational events;
  • Three (3) years of experience facilitating presentations, workshops, or employee training in both virtual and in-person environments; and
  • Two (2) years of experience creating professional internal communications or employee engagement materials.

Preferred:

  • Experience administering learning management systems or training registration software.
  • Experience using email marketing or communication platforms such as Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or similar software.
  • Experience supporting organizational development, employee engagement, or talent development initiatives.

CERTIFICATIONS:

Preferred: Current MBTI, DiSC, CliftonStrengths, EQ-i 2.0 and Fierce Conversations.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Training & Development

  • Coordinate and facilitate in-person, virtual, and hybrid training sessions as assigned.
  • Partner with departments to identify training needs and coordinate professional development opportunities.
  • Coordinate classroom logistics, room setup, audiovisual equipment, materials, presenters, and vendor needs.
  • Create and maintain training classes, registration, attendance, and course information within the Learning Management System.
  • Coordinate employee onboarding, professional development programs, and campus-wide learning initiatives.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating department and college-wide employee engagement and recognition events.

Training Administration & Evaluation

  • Coordinate participant registration and maintain accurate training records.
  • Assist in developing training evaluations, surveys, and assessment tools.
  • Track attendance, participant feedback, and training effectiveness.
  • Compile training metrics and prepare reports to support continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate and distribute annual employee training needs assessments.

Internal Communications

  • Develop, prepare, and distribute professional, engaging, and visually appealing internal communications.
  • Create organization-wide and targeted communications that maintain Amarillo College branding standards and support employee engagement.
  • Assist with newsletters, announcements, campaigns, presentations, and other communication materials.
  • Coordinate communication timelines to ensure timely and effective delivery of information.

Organizational Effectiveness Support

  • Assist in maintaining Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness webpages, employee resources, and handbook updates.
  • Support organizational development initiatives, employee recognition programs, and culture-building activities.
  • Provide administrative and project support for Organizational Effectiveness initiatives.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Working knowledge of webinar and virtual meeting platforms.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems and training registration software.
  • Familiarity with graphic design, presentation, or communication software such as Canva, Adobe Express, Snagit, Camtasia, or similar applications.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Creative thinking and the ability to develop engaging learning experiences and communications.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships across all levels of the College.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills.

Salary: Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position.

Pay grade 11 Amarillo College Pay Grades (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and campus locations and may occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or move training materials, office supplies, and equipment up to twenty-five (25) pounds as needed.

Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events to support College operations and training activities.

Work Environment: This position operates primarily in a professional office environment and routinely utilizes standard office equipment, computers, audiovisual equipment, and educational technology. Work may be performed in classrooms, conference rooms, and other campus locations while supporting training sessions, employee events, and organizational initiatives. The position requires frequent collaboration with employees across the College, management of multiple priorities, and occasional independent work with minimal supervision.
