Training Process Support Specialist

Location: Plymouth, MN

Onsite Flexibility: Hybrid local candidates near Minneapolis work in a hybrid setup (2 3 days/week in the Plymouth office); candidates outside the Minneapolis area are fully remote

Job Summary

This Training Process Support Specialist role focuses on delivering and developing training for CYME software, a power systems analysis tool used across the electric utility industry. The position bridges deep technical knowledge of electrical engineering and power systems with instructional expertise, enabling diverse audiences to learn foundational and advanced software functionality. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver virtual training for CYME software, covering foundational and advanced functionality; facilitate hands-on exercises, labs, and real-world scenarios to reinforce learning and practical application
  • Translate complex electrical engineering and power system concepts into clear, learner-friendly instruction
  • Develop, maintain, and update training materials, including presentations, lab guides, exercises, and job aids
  • Assess learner understanding during training sessions and adjust delivery to accommodate varying skill levels
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Professional Services, and Support teams to ensure training content aligns with current functionality and best practices
  • Gather and analyze learner feedback to continuously improve course content, delivery methods, and overall training effectiveness
  • Maintain training readiness, including lab environments, datasets, and training configurations
  • Support development of blended learning solutions, including self-paced or eLearning content, as needed; stay current on CYME product updates, industry standards, and utility best practices to ensure training remains relevant and accurate
  • Track training activities and outcomes in designated systems or reports, as required

Required Skills

  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills with the ability to teach technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Previous experience in customer enablement, training delivery, or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with power engineering terms such as KW, transmission, and generation
  • Ability to clearly articulate fundamental technical concepts used in both CYME and previous roles

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of electric utility distribution/transmission fundamentals (e.g., load flow, short circuit, protection, reliability, grounding, integration studies)
  • Familiarity with adult learning frameworks
  • Prior customer-facing experience supporting enterprise implementations or software
  • Experience working at utilities (e.g., XL Energy) or competitor companies (e.g., Siemens or Honeywell)
  • Application engineering experience, due to direct work with customers
  • Familiarity with CYME software (from utility company experience or internal exposure)

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Engineering degree preferred
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree with a strong background in adult learning, instructional design, training, or workforce education is accepted
  • Ideal candidates hold a degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • 3 years of experience required with an engineering degree; 5 or more years required without an engineering degree but with electrical sector experience

Required Experience

  • Previous experience in customer enablement, training delivery, or equivalent experience
  • Experience training workforce personnel in the utility or electrical engineering field
  • 3 years of experience with an engineering degree, or 5 years of experience without an engineering degree but with electrical sector experience

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • Prior experience supporting enterprise software implementations in a customer-facing capacity
  • Background in the utility or electrical engineering industry (e.g., at utilities or competitor organizations such as Siemens or Honeywell)
