Bindery Machine Operator Training Program – 1st Shift
Position: Bindery Machine Operator Trainee
Job Type: Temp-to-Hire Training Program
Shift: 1st Shift, Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM
Pay Rate: $19.00/hour PAID TRAINING

Are you a recent college graduate or someone early in your career looking for an opportunity to learn a skilled trade and build a long-term career in the printing industry?

We are currently seeking a motivated individual to join our client's Bindery Machine Operator Training Program. This structured, hands-on training program is designed to teach you the skills needed to become a successful Bindery Machine Operator. The ideal candidate will be dependable, mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and interested in developing a long-term career in bindery operations.

What You’ll Learn
The training program consists of six progressive phases designed to take you from the fundamentals of bindery operations through advanced machine operation:

Phase 1 – Foundations | Weeks 1-2
  • Learn the fundamentals of bindery operations and the printing/finishing process.
  • Become familiar with workplace safety, equipment, terminology, and procedures.
  • Develop an understanding of basic bindery workflow and production expectations.
Phase 2 – Machine Familiarization | Weeks 2-3
  • Learn the operation and function of bindery machinery and equipment.
  • Become familiar with machine components, controls, and operating procedures.
  • Learn proper machine loading, material handling, and basic adjustments.
Phase 3 – Job Setup & Production | Weeks 3-6
  • Learn how to prepare and set up machines for different production jobs.
  • Follow job specifications and production instructions.
  • Develop skills in machine operation, adjustments, and production efficiency.
  • Monitor equipment during production to ensure consistent output.
Phase 4 – Quality Control & Color Management | Weeks 5-8
  • Learn to inspect finished products for quality and accuracy.
  • Identify defects, inconsistencies, and production issues.
  • Develop an understanding of color management and maintaining consistent finished-product quality.
  • Make appropriate adjustments and communicate quality concerns when necessary.
Phase 5 – Maintenance & Troubleshooting | Weeks 6-10
  • Learn basic preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Identify common machine problems and production issues.
  • Develop troubleshooting skills and learn how to make basic operational adjustments.
  • Properly communicate mechanical or equipment issues to maintenance personnel.
Phase 6 – Advanced Operation | Month 3+
  • Progress toward independently operating bindery machinery.
  • Develop advanced setup and machine adjustment skills.
  • Improve production efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
  • Continue developing the skills necessary for a long-term career as a Bindery Machine Operator.
