Job Summary:Under the direction of the Operations Managers, the Training Officer is responsible for the development, coordination, and delivery of training programs for EMT, Paramedic, and SCT personnel. This includes providing direct instruction, overseeing field training activities, and ensuring personnel are competent in delivering safe and effective patient care and transportation services.The Training Officer ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including California Health and Safety Code, Title 22, Department of Health Services, California Highway Patrol requirements, and any other applicable regulatory or licensing agencies. Additionally, the Training Officer supports the Quality Improvement (QI) program and participates in the development and delivery of remedial training as needed.The Training Officer may be required to function as a field provider when operational needs, call volume, or staffing shortages necessitate the deployment of additional ambulance units.Duties and Responsibilities:Provide initial and ongoing training to all newly hired personnel on current company policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.Develop, review, and update training materials to reflect changes in company policy, local EMS agency requirements, and state regulations.Ensure all training documentation is complete, accurate, and properly maintained in coordination with Human Resources.Conduct remediation and retraining for field personnel who do not meet established company standards or clinical performance expectations.Coordinate with Scheduling to assign and manage third-rider shifts with Field Training Officers (FTOs).Collaborate with the Operations Manager to monitor and support employees progressing through the FTO training program.Review completed FTO training packets after field training and participates in 90-day evaluations in coordination with the Operations Manager.Maintain a professional demeanor at all times when interacting with employees, patients, the public, and allied agencies, including EMS, fire, and law enforcement personnel.Meet or exceed all continuing education requirements and maintain current certifications as required for the position.Provide instruction on proper patient care documentation, including ePCR completion, billing information, and required shift documentation.Reviews company fallouts for patterns and helps implement new policies and procedures.Support the Quality Improvement (QI) process by reviewing ePCRs for compliance with clinical indicators and documentation standards; report findings to the appropriate department leadership.Ensure all field personnel complete and submit prehospital patient care reports (ePCRs), inventory logs, and other required documentation in accordance with company standards.Provide training in navigation, including map reading and route planning for ambulance operations.Maintain classroom environments, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and reporting of any deficiencies.Helps teach and maintain certifications offered by the company.Forward complaints or concerns from external stakeholders-including hospitals, fire agencies, nursing staff, and patients.Maintain a thorough working knowledge of company policies, procedures, and the ability to locate and interpret them as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilityHigh school diploma or GED. Five years of experience as an Emergency Medical Paramedic. Field Training experience Helpful. California Driver's License and acceptable driving record required. Must have the ability to interact with hospital and other agency representatives in developing service. Effective oral and written communication skills. Effective interpersonal skills. Ability to work all shifts and varied shifts.
