Position: K-8 (Self Contained/Multiple Subjects Teacher)

Contracted Days Probationary: 188 Permanent 186

Salary Schedule: $57,645-$95, 378

Reports to/Evaluated by: Principal and or designee

Primary Purpose:

The teacher shall be under the immediate supervision of the Principal, and will adhere to applicable laws, rules and regulations of the state, county, and school district governing board. The teacher is expected to facilitate intellectual, social and personal development to ensure that students learn basic and essential skills at grade level.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's degree from accredited university

CBEST, CSET, CLAD/BCLAD

Valid CTC Multiple Subject teaching credential with required endorsements for subject and level assigned

Special Knowledge/Skills:

General knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Capitalizes students' interests to engage students to become independent learners

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of subjects assigned

Use information about individual student to make learning more meaningful and relevant

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Plans and implements a program of instruction that adheres to the district philosophy, goals and Objectives as outlined in the adopted course of study.

Makes purposeful and appropriate lesson plans that provide for effective teaching strategies and maximize time on task.

Plans and implements a program of study designed to meet individual needs of students.

Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning by employing a variety of appropriate teaching starting strategies.

Encourage student enthusiasm for the learning process and the development of good study habits.

Provides progress and interim reports as required.

Prepares substitute folder containing appropriate information as required by the principal.

Plans and prescribes purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals, tutors and volunteers

as needed.

Recognizes learning problems and makes referrals as appropriate.

Demonstrates a strong grasp of subject matter.

Uses effective oral and written expression.

Instructional Strategies

  • Keeps current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory.
  • Is willing to share this knowledge for continual improvement of the school's curriculum (including Algebra).
  • Assists with the ongoing curriculum revision process, including the revision of written courses of study.
  • Becomes acquainted with supplemental services beneficial to students as an extension of regular classroom activities.

Classroom Management

Develops, in accordance with district school guidelines, reasonable rules of classroom behavior and appropriate techniques that are consistently applied.

Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
