Transactional Attorney

Hill Wallack LLP is a Princeton-based firm known for practical, high-stakes work in real estate, commercial transactions, and government-related matters. We need a Transactional Attorney who will close complex deals that protect clients, generate lasting relationships, and expand our commercial practice. Your work will directly shape outcomes for developers, businesses, and public entities across New Jersey and beyond.

Performance Objectives

• Close 15–20 commercial real estate and business transactions annually (purchases, sales, leases, financings, joint ventures) with zero material post-closing disputes attributable to documentation gaps.
• Draft, negotiate, and finalize complete deal documents (PSAs, leases, loan packages, operating agreements) that fully protect client economics and allocate risk within agreed timelines.
• Identify and resolve title, zoning, environmental, and due-diligence issues early so that 90% of deals proceed to closing without delay or unexpected client cost.
• Build a personal book of $400K+ in originations within 24 months by converting existing client work and generating new referrals from developers, lenders, and in-house counsel.
• Coordinate seamlessly with litigation, land-use, and government-law colleagues so that transactional advice anticipates regulatory and dispute risks.
• Mentor junior attorneys and paralegals so that first-draft quality improves 30% year-over-year and partner review time decreases.

Environment & Resources

You will report to a Practice Group Chair in our Princeton office, work with a lean, experienced team of partners, associates, and support staff, and have access to industry-standard research platforms, title resources, and a collaborative culture that values practical solutions over billable-hour theater. Deal flow comes from long-standing client relationships in real estate, commercial, and public-sector work.

Essential Qualifications

• J.D. and New Jersey bar admission (or ability to waive in immediately).
• 4–8 years of hands-on transactional experience in commercial real estate, corporate, or mixed-use deals, with a track record of independently managing closings.
• Demonstrated ability to draft and negotiate complete document suites that survive scrutiny and close on schedule.
• Comfort working with developers, lenders, municipalities, and sophisticated in-house counsel.
• Clear, concise writing and the judgment to flag material risks without creating unnecessary friction.
