Burr & Forman LLP is seeking a full‑time transactional legal practice assistant in our Columbia, SC office. This role will provide a variety of administrative and legal support services with an intense focus on providing exceptional service to our clients. Key responsibilities include preparing and filing legal documents, managing case files, scheduling appointments, and facilitating communication with attorneys and clients, exhibiting commitment to integrity and excellence.KEY CONTRIBUTIONSPrepare, edit, and proof contracts, agreements, closing documents, memos, reports, correspondence, and other similar documentsPerform complex administrative duties requiring knowledge of legal terminology and legal processesPrepare signature pages, transaction binders, filings, and summariesSchedule and coordinate logistics for meetings, travel, and closingsMaintain calendars including transaction deadlinesEnter billable time and edit time and pre‑bills as neededProcess expense reimbursementsAnswer incoming calls; prepare documents for shipment; and distribute mailOpen and maintain client files and organizational documentsRespond to inquiries for informationOther responsibilities as neededTHE ESSENTIALSAt least two years of experience as a transactional legal secretary/assistant in a law firm or corporate legal department environment, real estate experience preferredAssociate's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experienceProficient with Microsoft Word and ability to type 50 wpmHighly organized, detail‑oriented, proactive with a desire to take ownership as a contributing member of the teamBalance competing priorities and work effectively in a fast‑paced environment, exercising patience and professionalism during stressful situationsStrong verbal and written communication skillsSome overtime may be requiredBurr & Forman LLP provides a wide range of benefits designed to support our employees and families including comprehensive health insurance, dental and vision insurance, group term life and disability insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan and retirement planning services, paid time off, and free wellness and mental health services among other benefits.The salary range for this position reflects a reasonable estimate of the range of compensation.
