Optimizing our enrollment mix is crucial to the long-term viability of Indiana University (IU) Indianapolis. There are several factors that influence a students college choice, persistence, graduation, and success. The Division of Enrollment Management is comprised of over 100 full-time staff in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, Office of the Registrar, Office for Veterans and Military personnel, P12, as well as other areas supporting student enrollment. The Division also oversees and provides insight for its enrollment operations for the Fort Wayne and Columbus campuses.

Job Summary

The Transfer Articulation Coordinator plays a critical role in advancing recruitment and enrollment strategies at IU Indianapolis while supporting the needs of students entering the university with transfer credit. This role will carry the responsibility of reviewing transfer credit coursework and test and/or exam credit using established guidelines to determine direct transfer equivalency coursework.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Applies foundational knowledge of transfer credit evaluation, academic policy, and credit equivalency standards to determine applicability and equivalency of transfer coursework for incoming, continuing, and visiting students in accordance with university procedures.
  • Follows established transfer credit rules for evaluation and awarding of general education elective credit.
  • Utilizes core enrollment and student information systems to evaluate, award, and maintain transfer credit and test credit records (e.g., Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES), following established institutional guidelines and operational practices.
  • Provides ongoing support for the currency review of transfer credit rules based on the established date of the transfer credit equivalency. Follows best practices involving a re-review of any transfer credit rule after a period of time; facilitates reviews per established timelines.
  • Facilitates processes to maintain transfer credit rules in core systems used to support transfer credit evaluation.
  • Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves routine transfer credit errors, discrepancies, and student appeals related to credit evaluation and posting.
  • Applies judgment to determine when transfer credit cases require escalation for further review, policy clarification, or exception approval.
  • Manages workload priorities related to transfer credit evaluation, rule maintenance, documentation, and support activities with guidance and oversight.
  • Conducts continuous process documentation and support. Provides procedural guidance and support related to transfer credit processes and documentation, as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in support of enrollment management goals.

General Responsibilities

  • Assists with administrative needs related to the daily operations, planning, and implementation of various or multiple student services initiatives. Performs duties such as attending a front desk, answering phones and email, and delivering messages and mail.
  • Serves as a liaison to campus partners for cross-departmental student services initiatives, providing information, securing space reservations, scheduling planning meetings, and providing necessary documentation.
  • Provides assistance to student participants, stakeholders, faculty, and/or staff; acts as a resource by analyzing information, providing documentation, and preparing reports. Accurately maintains student records and databases.
  • Provides directions, support, and information to student organization representatives and other visitors to the department.
  • Assists with daily scheduling, training, and gathering of student feedback. May prepare and disseminate handouts, presentations, or other materials.
  • Assists with ordering or creation of promotional materials for student organizations or departmental needs.
  • Takes on tasks of increasing complexity, such as performing benchmarking research of student services initiatives at other higher education institutions or designing routine surveys to gauge student satisfaction and program effectiveness.
  • May provide guidance to other Student Services Coordinators.

Qualifications

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.

EDUCATION

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 2 years of in office environment, higher education, or a related field.

Preferred

  • Experience working in higher education, enrollment management, admissions, or student success analytics.
  • Experience working with complex data and/or records services in a team environment.
  • Experience working independently while collaborating closely with leadership and cross-functional partners.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Work Location

This is a fully remote position. However, this is subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.

Advertised Salary

$43,000.00 - 45,000.00 annually
