Are you someone who enjoys working outdoors, helping the public, and making a positive impact on your community? In this role, youll help operate and maintain the Countys transfer and recycling facilities, ensuring waste is managed safely, efficiently, and in an environmentally responsible manner.
Youll assist customers by answering questions, explaining solid waste policies and procedures, and directing them to the appropriate disposal or recycling areas. Youll inspect and identify incoming materials, ensure waste is sorted correctly, and safely handle or separate hazardous materials in accordance with established regulations and safety standards.
This position also plays an important role in maintaining a safe and efficient facility. Youll monitor unloading activities, inspect trailers for proper loading, remove potential safety hazards, perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment, and help keep buildings and grounds clean and well maintained. Responsibilities also include removing refrigerants from appliances prior to recycling, completing routine inspections, maintaining activity reports, and supporting the overall operation of the facility.

Your Purpose & Day-To-Day Journey
You have a working knowledge of departmental policies, modern office practices, and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. You understand the operation, care, and routine maintenance of vehicles and equipment used in construction, maintenance, or solid waste operations, along with the traffic laws, safety regulations, and occupational hazards associated with operating that equipment.
You're familiar with solid waste operations and are able to learn and apply applicable federal, state, and County regulations to ensure work is performed safely and in compliance with established standards. You can safely operate equipment and motor vehicles, identify mechanical issues, perform minor adjustments and repairs, and monitor gauges and equipment performance.
You're organized, dependable, and able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work both independently and as part of a team. You follow written and verbal instructions, use sound judgment to solve problems, and are comfortable performing manual labor in varying weather conditions.
You communicate effectively with coworkers, customers, contractors, and the public, providing professional guidance and excellent customer service. You're also proficient in using computers for data entry, recordkeeping, report preparation, and business correspondence, while maintaining accurate records and building positive working relationships with those you serve.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Stooping, crouching, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, seeing up close, seeing far away, kneeling, reaching, pushing, talking, standing, climbing, finger movement, repetitive motions, depth perception. Frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
