Position Overview
Please note: This is a grant-funded position.
Starting Salary Range is $57,512 - $60,445. The initial salary offer is commensurate with education and related work experience.
Lee College has set an ambitious institutional goal: raising the transfer intending for students on a bachelors-degree pathway from approximately twenty-five percent (25%) today to thirty-five percent (35%). The Transfer Success Coach gives students a single, dedicated point of contact as they finalize their transfer plan, move through acceptance, and begin their first term at a four-year institution. The Coach works alongside students to confirm their destination and degree program, prepare for the logistics of the move, and stay connected into the receiving institution so support continues without a gap.
This work is specialized, proactive, and relationship-driven. The Coach partners with students through the transition between university acceptance and the first term of enrollment, helping them build on their own strengths and momentum while navigating the financial, logistical, and life-stability factors that can otherwise interrupt persistence. The Coach treats each student as a capable partner in their own success; working alongside them so students arrive at their transfer institution ready to persist. Reporting to the Director of Transfer Services, the Coach works in a collaborative team that supports the institutional transfer goal.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Pre-Acceptance Transfer Guidance
- Guide transfer plan finalization: confirm the students destination institution, degree program, and credit mapping based on proximity, program quality, financial aid, and articulation strength, in collaboration with the students academic advisor.
- Provide advising and degree audit review to confirm transferability of coursework and support career exploration to keep the plan aligned with student goals.
- Coordinate university campus visits and small-group sessions connecting Lee College students with advisors and current students at receiving institutions.
- Monitor transfer application progress and conduct proactive outreach to students who stall; ensure students complete introductory financial literacy coursework and have a preliminary financial plan in place.
Post-Acceptance Transition & Persistence Management
- Serve as the students primary point of contact from university acceptance through the first term of enrollment.
- Build and track an individualized transition checklist covering post-admission steps: orientation registration, financial aid verification, loan counseling, enrollment confirmation, and residency documentation.
- Monitor risk indicators and conduct structured, proactive outreach through the summer and first term to prevent transfer melt and reinforce persistence.
- Empower students to navigate the transfer process, including the establishment and understanding of student expectations at the receiving institution.
- Coordinate directly with the receiving institution for a warm hand-off to the students first-term advisor, ensuring support continues across the institutional boundary.
Basic Needs & Financial Readiness Navigation
- Conduct proactive needs assessments covering housing, food security, transportation, childcare, healthcare, employment, and technology access, and connect students to campus/community resources, escalating crises per established protocol.
- Support housing transition planning and assist students in updating public benefits (SNAP, Medicaid, housing assistance) to reflect their new campus or city.
- Coordinate with disability services at both Lee College and the receiving institution to ensure continuity of accommodations.
- Help students understand financial aid packages, cost-of-attendance, and payment timelines; support semester-level budgeting and connect students to scholarship or emergency aid when gaps arise.
- Identify financial gaps and connect students to scholarship, emergency grant, or institutional aid opportunities. Prepare students for common financial transition challenges during the first semester.
Partnerships, Engagement, & Reporting
- Plan and lead transfer workshops, information sessions, and transfer fairs that build a visible transfer culture on campus; develop transfer guides and resources for students.
- Build and maintain relationships with partner-university admissions staff and advisors, receiving-institution partners, and educator pathway teams
- Represent Lee College at college and community events as needed.
- Maintain accurate case notes and milestone tracking in myPath, and contribute data for grant/institutional reporting (transfer yield, melt reduction, first-term persistence, basic needs metrics) to drive continuous improvement.
- Participate in pathway meetings to align transition support and inform transfer patterns, student needs & observations.
- Cross-Institutional Collaboration: Partner with Lee College departments to align student support.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities
- Registration and transfer application periods are peak times requiring extended hours.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
